Standing out in a sea of outstanding students

Common advice for having the best shot at admission to the most selective colleges is that you should stand out from your competition. How do the most successful students do that?

The answer is staring at you in the mirror. Be yourself. You are the only you. Nobody can represent you better or more authentically than yourself.  And  YOU  are fabulous!

The best advice is to apply to colleges that are your best fit and put your best application forward. Don't worry about getting in at a college. Let the colleges worry about being lucky enough to snag an awesome incoming freshman like you. Consider any wait-list or rejection letters you get as lost opportunities for ...that college, not you.

There are over 4,000 colleges in the United States. Many of them would love to have you. And you don't have to confine your college search to the US. There are great colleges outside the US that have impressive programs and lower prices than US colleges and universities. The main focus should be to find colleges that meet your unique needs and have programs to address your individual talents.
