College, YOUR Way

Pam Rambo has been called a college fairy godmother by the Virginia GazetteDon't get to college by way of "where my friends are going" or "what my counselor wants me to do".  Get to college YOUR way.  Your way is what works for YOU.  Where YOU feel comfortable.  Where YOU like the other students who go there.  Where YOUR college major is offered.  Where YOU and YOUR FAMILY can afford the costs.  Where it is convenient for YOU to come home for a break or weekend without spending a boatload of cash.
YOU are going to spend two to four years of YOUR time at the college you choose.  It needs to be comfortable for YOU and get YOU where YOU want to go without putting you in debt so high you'll consider selling a kidney to get out.
Where YOU will feel comfortable includes the attitudes of the staff who work there.
Take a tour, are they friendly?  Do they care about YOUR success?  Are they interested in what YOU want to study and how YOU want to change the world or are YOU just a number to them?
And how about safety?  You want an environment where you can study and play without fear.  Check out www.ope.gov/security to get the latest statistics on college safety for the schools you are considering.
If YOU don't feel comfortable at a college, there are plenty of other great places to go.  And...they will be lucky to have YOU.
Don't leave your parents out of the college choice equation.  They are on your side and know you better than anyone.  They can give great tips on things you might like to look at when you check out a potential college. Parents are more experienced at looking at value and know how much they will be able to help out with costs.  There are many great colleges out there and lots of ways to save on your college education.
At Rambo Research and Consulting we specialize in helping students and parents in every aspect of the college decision making process.  Our favorite service is helping students and parents pay college costs with other people's money (scholarships)!  Call us for a free consultation at 757-903-6511.
