Can your high school help your kid meet deadlines?

While some colleges are flexible about receiving transcripts, others are not. High schools also vary in how flexible they are in terms of their transcript request deadlines. High school policies that require a great deal of advance notice in order to get a transcript sent to a college are likely to stifle the number of scholarships students at a high school will receive from colleges. This is one of those pressure points where parents need to work with their PTA to encourage reasonable school policies. Parents and counselors also need to work with high school seniors to encourage them get things done in a timely manner. When students run into roadblocks, parents need to know about their problems and help out. If you have a child in high school, find out what the transcript policies are at your school so that you don't miss out on scholarships that could reduce college costs for your family. |
