Parents and high school seniors sometimes feel so much stress during the college application process that they argue with each other.... which further elevates their stress.
Parents feel the most stress over choosing the right colleges, getting applications in on time and covering college costs. Students tend to feel more stress over where to apply and whether they will get in.
Instead of fighting, students and parents need to remember that they are on the same team. A better strategy is to huddle together as a team to work toward the goal post. Students need parent counsel on colleges that are within family financial reach to help avoid surprises later. Parents need students to keep them in the loop on college application plans and progress.
