It is almost mid-August. Rising high school seniors are in the last few weeks they will have before school starts to do the work necessary to avoid last minute cramming to complete college admissions applications.
By now, rising high school seniors should have chosen 8-10 colleges of interest and be completing any needed visits and research to prepare for the application process. Students also need to decide what application strategies to use for each school. Early decision? Early application? Priority? Regular?
Before school starts, students should also visit the Common Application (for schools that participate) or the admissions application on their college websites to determine what essays they are required to write. Between now and the first day of school, students should write those essays. Having those essays written now will make the application process go much faster in the fall.
